Holiday Inn Express & Suites Winner by IHG

The staff worked hard to find me a good rate and a quiet room close to the door, which made going in and out with my dog easier. They were very helpful the whole time. I stayed for two nights.

The room itself was clean and comfortable, but arranging rooms for our event turned into a headache that lasted nearly a year. On the day of the event, guests with confirmation numbers were told they had no room, or that our block was full when it wasn't. Some of our friends and family were charged more, too. I called many times and let it ring for a full minute, but nobody answered. There was also a frightening mix-up. I told my husband we were in room 314, but his key didn't work there. Thinking he might have misheard, he tried 315, and that key opened the door. The room was messy, and after he'd been inside for about a minute, a man woke up in the bed. Why did his key work for an occupied room? The few times I did deal with staff were unpleasant, and all the booking problems made this a terrible experience. I hope things improve, but I wouldn't recommend doing business here.

Breakfast had bacon, the beds are brand new, and the hot tub is still there. The staff were excellent, too.

The people we met were the best part. The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful, even giving us a heads-up about possible bad weather. The new head housekeeper was also kind and tried to help, though she'd only been there two weeks and seemed overwhelmed and exhausted. She apologized when we found nut shells on the floor and called maintenance to sort out our TV. He was friendly, and they got it working, but we never managed to get local channels to follow the weather. The room had other problems. It was over 100 degrees outside, and even with the A/C set to 65, the room stayed around 74 or warmer. Mostly the unit just blew air, with an occasional bit of cool air. The beds were too soft for me, though I liked the pillows. Breakfast was decent, and I loved the coffee machine. I know the hotel is under new management, but it still has a long way to go. I'm glad there are good people working there who might be able to improve it.
