Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Winston-Salem Hanes Mall

We came from out of town because our mother had a medical emergency, and the staff were incredibly supportive while we were going through a difficult time. Reme was especially outstanding, sincere and professional, and kept going out of the way to accommodate us. The rooms were comfortable too. I had such a commendable stay that I’d gladly stay at a Fairfield Inn again and confidently recommend it.

The outside has that older Fairfield look, but inside is very nice. Our separate bedroom was spacious, the bed felt amazing, and the bathroom had a roomy modern shower. Everyone we dealt with was helpful and welcoming, from the smiling front desk staff to the housekeepers who greeted us whenever they saw us. They serve breakfast, and after my allergies limited what I could eat on the first morning, I asked the kitchen attendant about options. She said there’d be more the next day, and there was: turkey and pork sausage instead of all eggs, and really good hot seasoned potatoes instead of oatmeal. The sausage was labeled. There was a clean waffle station, toast and bread, a fridge with drinks and yogurt, and fresh fruit. Hot beverages are available 24/7. The location is great too, with Hanes mall across the street and lots of shopping areas and restaurants behind it.

We still like Marriott, but around 2 a.m. the microwave started beeping and acting up. Its plug was on a power strip hidden behind furniture, so we had to move the fridge, coffee maker, and TV around to reach it. It took about ten minutes to finally stop, then we went back to bed. We could’ve called the desk, but thought we’d sort it out faster ourselves. We told the front desk woman the next morning, but she said there wasn’t really anything they could do. It’s still a good place, and I hope this doesn’t happen at another location we stay at.

We really appreciated Remy’s help before arrival. He greeted us at check-in, made sure everything was right, and even had chocolate for us. There were a few extra amenities for Parents weekend. The suite was a good size, the air conditioning was cold, and the new 60-inch Samsung TVs looked good in the master bedroom. The rooms and lobby have been renovated, though they could feel more modern, especially with carpet still on the floors. For some reason, the TV kept displaying other people’s names, first Sean and then Andrew.
