Best Western Mt. Vernon Inn

I've never had an experience like this at a hotel, and I won't be checking into any Best Western again. The night was below 40 degrees outside, but neither the room we booked nor the replacement next door had a working AC/heater unit. We ended up sleeping in our clothes in bed, trying to get through the night. The replacement came after the maintenance man had already been in the first room. My 56-year-old mother has hip problems and needed help with her bags. There weren't many, and I was down the road getting supplies for the night, but he didn't offer to help. In the morning we asked the desk for some kind of compensation. The man said his name was "Ron" and was very difficult to deal with. When my mother said it had been rude for maintenance not to help with the bags, "Ron" accused her of acting SEXIST and said it wasn't a full-service hotel. We're from Texas, where we'd help an older woman who needed assistance, so we couldn't understand why he said that. This was an awful stay, and I don't recommend this particular hotel in Orlando, FL.

Housekeeping was top notch, but management was a joke. This could be a great place to stay if it were run by people who knew something about customer service. They caused inconveniences on my vacation and never even gave me an apology. My family who live nearby will book future visitors at another hotel.

After 65 years serving the Winter Park community, the Best Western Mt Vernon Inn has closed. We sold the property, and a new development will probably be built there next year. I'm off to go racing. Cheers, y'all. Rick Frazee, Retired Proprietor

Everything was clean, and the staff were friendly. The hotel is in a really central spot, with a huge shopping center nearby on foot, packed with restaurants, shops, and a movie theater. There's also an upscale shopping and dining district about five minutes away.
