The room problems turned my wedding day into a stressful mess. I’d booked two rooms at the Alfond 10 months ahead because it was within walking distance of the venue and I’d heard good things. At check-in, they’d downgraded my room, blaming another “system error.” The manager offered two drink tickets, but that didn’t solve the problem: I’d paid for a room big enough for 3 stylists and 10 people to do hair and makeup. They said nothing else was available. At 7 am on my wedding day, they finally found space for me in the private dining room. It worked, but we had to walk through the restaurant whenever we needed the bathroom. I also had to send my photographer and videographer out so I could get dressed, since I didn’t have the larger room with a separate living room. The day before, my friend’s massages, booked 6-8 months in advance, had disappeared because the massage therapist quit and no one had rescheduled them. The hotel said this was another “system error.” I was promised a comped night, which I did receive, and a free stay, but I still haven’t heard anything about that. A manager said they were “in recovery mode,” then blamed a system error and said my credit card had been missing a number for 10 months. For a “boutique” hotel, this was a terrible experience. I’ve lived in central Florida for 30 years, and this local establishment was a huge disappointment. It was overpriced and so stressful that I’d have been better off getting ready at home.

The birthday upgrade to a balcony room was such a nice touch, and it made my stay especially memorable. The Alfond Inn in Winter Park is beautiful, peaceful, and impeccably kept, with a refined feel that’s still welcoming. Staff were attentive and thoughtful from beginning to end. I highly recommend it and hope to return.

The location makes it easy to walk to everything. Our room was spotless, the beds were comfortable, and everything looked new and modern. The shower pressure was some of the best I’ve had in a hotel. 10/10. The restaurant was wonderful, and they have live music always. Highly recommend!

We appreciated the two complimentary glass bottles of water and the refill station with sparkling water. The lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and the front desk staff were amazing, friendly and professional, just what I’d expect from an upscale hotel. Our room was spacious and bright, but the comfort didn’t match the price. The beds were just okay, the pillows were standard, and the comforter didn’t have the crisp, fresh scent I look for in a luxury stay. The bathroom was generally clean, but the sealant around the tub and walls was old and peeling. I wish they paid more attention to upkeep. Coffee wasn’t Nespresso, it was drinkable but not great, and there was no turn-down sweet or chocolate, which is common at this tier. The extra charges, including the resort fee and tourism fee, felt like a nickel-and-dime situation. We know that’s probably corporate policy rather than the local staff’s fault, but it’s still annoying. You can tell they’re trying and made an honest effort at hospitality, but the bedding, bathroom maintenance, and missing small touches left us a bit disappointed.

A lovely surprise. Our premium two queen room was cozy and beautiful, and the hotel has nice art in a nice area. The Hamilton hotel restaurant was good but pricey. My Italian partner’s squash soup was tasty, though the chef let a few rock-hard gnocchi into it, “probably industrial,” as she put it. I’d go to nearby Jala for dinner. If you’re anywhere near Orlando, stay at the Alfond. First class.
