The Viking Lodge - Downtown Winter Park, Colorado

The location is hard to beat. One of the main bus stops is right across from the lodge, and it’s only two stops to the mountain. Cooper Creek Square has lots of restaurants, and you can walk to plenty of town spots. Fraser is a short bus ride away if you need a bigger supermarket. We stayed a little over a week through Christmas and New Year’s. I loved how much original infrastructure they kept while giving the place a cute, cozy chalet feel. We were on the top floor with plenty of space. The common areas had a fireplace, record player, piano you can play, coffee machine, hot cocoa, and tea. Sometimes there were hummus or nuts too. They also provide utensils, plates, glasses, cups, and a microwave. There’s a note to avoid using the microwave while the coffee machine is running. People were considerate about noise after certain hours. The only thing I forgot to ask about was a small box in our room that sometimes glowed yellow circles at night, with the lights off. We guessed it might be the router or a Wi-Fi extender. A hot tub would be a nice addition, though we knew there wasn’t one when we booked. It could add to the charm. Everyone was helpful and accommodating, and I’d highly recommend staying here. Two cats also sometimes come visit outside!

A great price for such a cozy stay. Viking lodge has a lovely little lobby with games and vinyl records you can put on, and there are good restaurants and breweries within walking distance. I’d recommend supporting this family-owned business!

The beds are extremely comfortable, and this lodge is in the best spot for après in Winter Park. There’s a free shuttle stop right next door, too. I’ll definitely stay here again when I’m in town.

The Viking Lodge feels like a home away from home, and we love its location and style. It’s our favorite vacation place. We come twice a year, for skiing in winter and hiking in summer.
