Methow River Lodge & Cabins

We had no hot water in the shower on the first day, so I ended up taking an ice-cold shower, which was miserable. The front desk said they’d been having trouble with the hot water heaters, but they managed to fix it. Breakfast was the usual packaged food, cereal, waffles, yogurt, milk, and coffee. The lodge and cabins are a decent place to stay, in a great spot near town and close to the outdoor rink, which worked well for our hockey tournament. Some teammates rented cabins that looked pretty amazing, with hot tubs in each, though a few said their tubs weren’t very hot. This was my third visit to Winthrop and my third hotel here, and so far this one’s probably the best of the three.

A creek runs behind the lodge, and we liked sitting by it. We also spent each evening on the balcony watching deer wander around. The rooms were very clean, with a nice comfortable bed, and the staff were friendly. The lodge is a little outside downtown Winthrop, which suited us, but still within walking distance. Thanks for a few lovely nights here, and to my coworker for recommending it.

I was there in the first week of October, mid-week, and the leaves were just starting to change. Some shops had shorter hours, but the town was still delightful, especially if you like baked goods. It’s an easy short walk to Winthrop shops and cafes, and a nice stroll takes you across a pedestrian bridge by the ice skating rink. I was visiting family in Mazama and Winthrop but wanted a place of my own for the night. The hotel sits by the river, which I could hear with the window open. My room was clean, with a NW Country look and knotty pine throughout.

My lodge room was clean and adequate, though not very comfortable. There was plenty of parking during my mid-week visit. The town is fairly close, but I probably wouldn’t call it walking distance. It’s an okay choice, with not many options in such a small town.
