The rooms are on the small side, though the beds were clean and the fireplace made the room feel cozy. The shower had good pressure, the water was clean, and there was a fridge and morning coffee. You can also pick up snacks at the booth. There’s a weight room and a small bistro that serves spirits, plus a sports bar one block away. The hotel was in the middle of a light remodel when I visited. One thing I noticed, perhaps because it was during a winter storm, was that the alcohol tasted a little stale, and there was a gnat in one of the sweeter bottles. The in-room A/C let me set the temperature where I wanted.

I slept well in the comfortable bed, and the place was clean with friendly staff. But the noise carries badly through the thin walls. You can hear curtains opening, toilets flushing, and doors shutting, and those doors are loud. The heating and air unit doesn’t keep its fan running, so there isn’t constant background sound to cover it. If white noise helps you sleep, bring a noise machine. Standard rooms don’t have microwaves, so you’ll need the one in the lobby to heat food. The hotel is in an industrial area with very few nearby food or delivery choices, and the surrounding streets aren’t well lit. You’ll likely need to drive for meals. With the noise and isolated setting, it’s not ideal for light sleepers or a longer stay.

The staff were so friendly and ready to help with anything my mom or I needed. We had a fantastic stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Chicago Wood Dale/Itasca in Illinois. The rooms were clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. It’s in a perfect spot by the airport. The hotel exceeded my expectations, and I’ll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Chicago!

I left without staying and still haven’t received a refund, even though the problem wasn’t my fault. After a long flight, I just wanted a clean bed, but the sheets in my first room were so wrinkled they looked as if they hadn’t been changed. I went to reception, where a young woman offered me a larger, nicer suite. I said room size wasn’t the issue, I just wanted clean, properly ironed linen. The second room had the same problem. I showed her photos of the bed. She said the sheets were clean and didn’t need to be ironed. I was shocked. Maybe that wouldn’t bother her, but I was paying $220 a night and expected neatly ironed bedding. I cancelled the booking. As I left, I said “thank voy” and goodbye, and the receptionist didn’t respond. The shuttle wait had already been a long one, and the room situation finished off an altogether disappointing experience. I definitely won’t return.
