Curtis House Inn

The Carriage House suite upstairs was gorgeous, and I wish I’d had a couple more days there to enjoy it. We booked it as a place to change for my 70th birthday party, which turned out just as I’d imagined. The patio was lovely, though I only wish the weather had been warmer. The room felt casual but tasteful, the staff handled everything professionally and were happy to help, and the bar had creative drinks that suited an afternoon event. We loved the food, from appetizers through dessert. Thanks, 1754, for helping make it such a special memory.

That espresso martini was the highlight, and it made a pretty great dessert. We only came in for dinner. It’s a charming old New England tavern with a pub feel, though I would’ve liked a few more choices on the menu. The food itself was fine.

The champagne was excellent and ended up being the high point of the meal. They took it off the bill, which we appreciated, but left the fish & chips charge as it was even though the fish came out burnt. A kind gesture, but I wish they’d addressed the food problem itself.

We had a great night here. Upstairs feels warm and cozy, and the live band downstairs brings a fun bit of energy. The drinks list has good options whether you want a cocktail or something without alcohol. Tamika was a bright, attentive server who knew the menu and kept smiling. The service was close to the best we’ve had. The food was just as good: don’t skip the 1754 burger or the mac and cheese with pulled short ribs. 1754 House Restaurant is a must-visit.
