HI Expr & Suites Woodside LaGuardia Airpt by IHG

We had a one-night stay before our morning flight at LGA. Check-in was easy, and our ihg credit card got us a complimentary upgrade to a suite. The room was spotless, quiet, and had a comfy bed. Breakfast had a good variety, including cinnamon rolls, and there’s good coffee available 24 hours a day. The free airport shuttle was the only problem. It’s supposed to come every 30 minutes, but we needed the 7:30am one and the driver showed up at 7:49 without apologizing, seeming a little annoyed. We made our flight, but keep the delay in mind if you’re in a rush. I’d stay here again for LGA.

Patrizia and Jessica at the front desk were great, friendly and helpful. We had two reservations with different start dates, and checking in with each of them got our stay off to a great start. The other front desk agents we spoke with by phone were just as helpful when we asked for a late checkout, which they were able to arrange. The hotel was really well kept, from the tidy lobby and spotless public bathrooms to our very clean rooms. I didn’t catch the names of the housekeepers or houseperson, but they were friendly and quick to help us. This was one of my best experiences with IHG.

The hotel staff were kind and very helpful. They let us have breakfast before check-in and tagged our bags for an early drop-off. Breakfast was okay, enough to get us by. The subway is close, though getting there is a bit of an uphill trudge. The Q60 bus is a block away and takes OMNY fare; the free Q70 bus is about a 10-minute walk away, near the subway. Getting around wasn’t the only thing that took longer than expected. The shuttle took 30 minutes even though we’d been told 10-15. For our departure, the front desk said to wait outside because the shuttle would be ready in a few minutes. We waited in the cold, then went back in and were told the driver had gone to the restroom and would be right out. When he came out, he said the next shuttle would leave in half an hour. Our room was cleaned only once during our 4-night stay, on the third night, which was a letdown. The convenience-store snacks are also extremely overpriced, especially when Dollar Tree is right outside selling the same things for less than their $4-$7 charges.

A comfortable bed, a clean hotel, quick service, and a breakfast buffet with plenty of options made this a great choice for getting into the city. We arranged to leave our luggage early and booked an airport shuttle, and both went smoothly. The hotel is 8min from La Guardia, with about a 10 min walk to the 7(3$ per ticket) or LIRR(5$ per ticket). The LIRR metro train was cleaner and went directly to Penn Station in the city. The station felt safe and wasn’t overrun by meanderers.
