Days Inn Reading Wyomissing

Customer service was great and the location was good, but I won’t return. The lobby, hallways, and rooms all looked and felt grimy, and the property needs major updates and renovations. People were roaming around and slamming doors throughout the night; the clientele seemed sketchy and disruptive, and it looked like something suspicious might have been going on. The hallways smelled of marijuana despite the hotel saying no smoking. There was no free breakfast or gym, either, though those were advertised. I was supposed to stay three weeks but will cancel the rest of my reservations. Saving money here may cost you a headache.

The room was clean, the bed was fairly comfortable, and staff were friendly and accommodating. The main drawback was the poor seal around the door, which let me hear everything in the hallway. Still, I’m not disappointed for what I paid. I’ve stayed places that cost almost three times as much and weren’t much better.

Manager Levi was awesome, and the staff were amazing, polite, and courteous. The hotel’s condition was the problem. The rooms smelled humid and moldy, and water dripped from the ceiling in the bathroom from the room above us. Manager Jake said we’d get a discount, but one room was actually charged more and the other got no discount. I won’t stay there again because of the condition of the hotel, though the staff were excellent. That’s why I give it two stars.

After waiting more than 25 minutes for someone to come to the front, I tried calling, but no phone rang and nobody answered. Eventually a woman came in and checked me in. I had my legitimate, task-trained service dog with me, and the dog was so well behaved that she hadn’t even noticed it. I told her about the dog, and she first asked for papers, which isn’t legal or even a legal document in this country. Papers are fake and usually mean the dog isn’t a legitimate task-trained service animal. My disability rights were violated and I was humiliated before she finally let me check in. The room was disgustingly dirty, especially the bathroom. Bloody toilet paper was scattered on the floor, and the shower had strange yellow mold of some sort. I’d asked for a disability room, but was put on the third floor beside a laundry chute that kept being used, so I couldn’t sleep. My last visit here was wonderful, but after this, I doubt I’ll come back. My experience was ruined, on my birthday, too.
