Black Gold Inn

We booked directly with the business for Shiner Fest, then cancelled four days before our stay because of an illness in the family. That was within the refund period, and the person who took my call assured me I wouldn’t be charged. They charged my card anyway. When I called, they blamed a booking company and refused to refund me, even though we’d booked directly. We never stayed there. I’d spend my money somewhere else; this place isn’t worth it.

Those beds were the softest and most comfortable I’ve ever slept in, somehow even softer than a cloud. The staff made us feel so welcome that we nearly wanted to stay inside instead of heading out. John made check-in easy, and Jason greeted us warmly every day. At the Black Gold Inn, we also appreciated the endless coffee and the exceptional hospitality. It turned one of our many trips into a memorable stay. Thank you, Black Gold Inn.

I had to move rooms four times during my two-night stay, and three of the rooms had period stains on the bed. The last one had no working AC. The showers were filthy and slimy, with water collecting in them, and there were roaches. The staff were great, but the owners don’t represent Yoakum, Texas well. They did offer a discount for the trouble: ten dollars off per night. 😳

The rooms weren’t cleaned, towels weren’t changed, and they didn’t even provide toilet paper. There were also lots of flies and mosquitoes inside. Very poor service.
