About this property

The hotel opened its door in 1899 by David and Jennie Curry, a tented camp so that visitors could enjoy the beauty of Yosemite for a modest price. They advertised "a good bed and clean napkin with every meal" for a small price. Today, the establishment otherwise known around Yosemite as Camp Curry still offers park visitors' comfortable, inexpensive lodging right in the shadow of spectacular Glacier Point and Half Dome. Scattered throughout the village, guests will find comfortable Yosemite cabins with private baths, plus standard motel rooms, and canvas tent cabins for all visitors taste. Please note starting May 20, 2022 – September 30, 2022, reservations will be required to enter the park between 6AM – 4PM in you personal vehicle

We came in January for MLK weekend and had a cozy stay in a heated Curry Village cabin. It cost $209 after tax for two full beds, and they gave us a voucher for a free medium pizza that was genuinely fancy and delicious. The bathrooms were clean, there were plenty of water refill spots, and the location in the park is unbeatable. Peet’s coffee on site was good, though I’d skip breakfast and go somewhere else in the valley. I imagine Curry Village is probably a zoo in summer, so I wouldn’t visit then, but for the price, I thought it was excellent.

The internet setup was a little confusing: there’s little to no cell service, and you have to go to the Lounge for WiFi. The password uses the reservation’s last name and tent number. Even so, I’d stay at Curry Village again. For what we paid, it has to be the most affordable way to stay inside Yosemite National Park. I was there with my brother for MLK weekend. Our first tent, 278, lost power, but the front desk apologized and moved us to tent 279. They really saved the trip. The heated tent was fine while it stayed above freezing, but once temperatures dropped below freezing overnight, it was uncomfortably cold by morning, even with the heater on full. Thicker blankets would have helped. The shared restrooms were kept clean, and the men’s restroom had hot showers with shampoo. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

The hiking was fantastic, and being in the valley was breathtaking. Staff were very pleasant to work with. I stayed in a heated tent that was a little dusty, but I was glad to have it. I wish I could’ve had my dog with me at night. Lots of people travel with pets, and they’re no more trouble than kids. Most people are very responsible about picking up after them. I was there in November, when the food vendors had closed for the season, but the store was stocked fairly well.

On my first Yosemite trip, I stayed at Curry Village in a heated yurt from Dec 27-Jan 2. The accommodations impressed me more than I expected. Bring extra bedding if you need more blankets in winter. The front desk staff were so helpful, especially Cindy. It was great meeting her, and she made sure we felt completely set up.
