The Lakeside Resort

The sunset Twilight Cruise on the lake, which the owner offered to take us on, was one of our favorite parts of the weekend. There was plenty to keep everyone busy too: we swam and grilled by the pool, played in the game room with its huge selection of games, and enjoyed the custom artwork and decorations around the house. Our family of 9 stayed at The Lakeside Resort over Labor Day weekend. The house was fantastic, and the owners and hosts were great, always helpful when we needed something. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it to anyone.

We spent the week here and had the privacy we wanted. Mark and Kathy were so sweet and easy to talk to, and the little details around the house made it feel special. The place was pristine, and we loved relaxing by the pool and having quality time together. I still can’t believe we got to vacation somewhere this magnificent. Having coffee while looking out over the lake was lovely, and we’ll remember the time we spent here for a lifetime. If you’re hoping to reconnect with your significant other, this is a wonderful place.

We left a day early, still dissatisfied, and booked another hotel for two nights after leaving “The Lakeside Resort.” I do not recommend this property. Although it is well-appointed, it is a home, not a resort, and the owners live on the entire main floor. If we had known, we never would have booked it. The place is right next to highway 64, so traffic noise drones constantly. Hospitality was poor. When I told the homeowner we were unhappy, his authoritarian response felt intimidating, and we were worried. We had already paid, copies of our credit cards and identification had been made at arrival, and our suite was accessible from the game room. The stairwell door to our suite had no lock, so we couldn’t secure it while we were out. Apart from the pool, using the amenities felt awkward, and getting ice, refrigeration, or a microwave was inconvenient. We did not feel valued as guests.

Swimming, the game room, paddleboarding, the sauna, and axe throwing kept us entertained during our week here. The hosts were helpful and gave us privacy, and both the house and grounds were very clean. It was a perfect getaway, and we had a wonderful stay. We couldn’t have asked for better and plan to return with friends and family.
