There’s a long stretch of sandy beach at Punta del Este, with a lovely lagoon edged by papyrus and grasses. Fish jump in the water, and behind the lagoon are dunes dotted with pines and other native trees that give shade and shelter from the wind. There are lots of birds and butterflies, too. Parking is easy. A few locals keep an eye on things for a tip, which is worth it for the peace of mind.

The room was simple, but the bed was comfortable and the shower was great. I also had a delicious, generous homemade breakfast brought right to the room. The balcony has beautiful views, and the location is very good. A nice choice for a little getaway.

A truly awful stay. I waited all day for the owner to come pay for my stay, but she never appeared. After I went for a walk nearby, I returned that evening to find that the “owner” had taken all my things out without my permission. She shouted at me, verbally abused me, and threw me out. As I was leaving, she kicked my suitcase and physically assaulted my mother. This is unacceptable, and we're going to take legal action.
