The hotel’s decor is beautiful throughout, and the room had a large, comfortable bed with good bedding and a very good shower. Staff were friendly, breakfast had a great selection, and the location is great. Our room was described as windowless and facing a courtyard, but that courtyard turned out to be the reception, so it could get noisy. The roof terrace could be wonderful, but the wooden slat canopies don’t provide any shade, which is a shame.

The noise made our stay miserable, which is a shame because this is a stylish hotel right in the old town. We stayed Friday and Saturday, and couldn’t sleep. A new outdoor nightclub called Odisea seems to have opened next door, and the music literally shook the building from 5pm until 6am. Even with earplugs it was unbearable. I’d posted videos from 5pm and 11pm. On Saturday the hotel eventually let us sleep in another room, but we were exhausted the next morning. Had I known it would be this loud, I definitely wouldn’t have stayed, and we left Sunday morning. Check whether the nightclub is open if you want to sleep, because if it is, expect not to. The hotel itself is very stylish, with modern, clean rooms (we had Room 14, a King Suite) and communal areas full of traditional character. The breakfast was disappointing for a hotel with around 15 bedrooms: just self-service fruit, bread, and coffee, with very little choice. There were no staff in the breakfast room, so reception staff had to clean it too, and it understandably got untidy.

This is our go-to place in Colonia. We love the atmosphere, the river views from the terrace, and those beautiful sunsets. There are nice places to relax, including the library, rooftop terrace, and patio. Breakfast is good, with eggs as well as continental options. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from all the nice spots, and tour meeting points are easy to reach on foot. They’ll also provide the address for pickup if you’re going on the horse ride tour or other activities farther out of town. The Wi-Fi works well, and the staff are very kind.

A stunning, distinctive boutique hotel in a prime spot. The hotel, room, breakfast, location, and professional staff were all wonderful. 10/10.
