A great place to relax and recharge, with nice staff. The grounds are spacious, and the garden and landscaping are very well kept. There wasn’t a breakfast buffet while I was there, and the selection was okay but smaller than at other hotels I’ve stayed in. Free horseback rides are offered twice a day, at a walking pace, and the estate itself is really nice.

The food was the one weak point and could definitely be better, but this is still the best place I’ve stayed. I felt close to nature and found the atmosphere perfect for recharging over a few days. You can go horseback riding, which was amazing. The interior feels like stepping back in time, with spacious bedrooms, a comfortable bed, and windows looking out at nature. I could hear the birds too.

We went as a family for lunch and an afternoon walk on the beach, but the experience left us very disappointed. Lunch was nice, though expensive. After about 15 minutes on the beach, a security man threatened to call the police to make us leave because we weren’t allowed down there. It’s frustrating when they continue promoting it. This was my first and last visit, and I don’t recommend it.

I reviewed the restaurant separately. It was a train wreck. The rest of the stay had a lot going for it: spacious, comfortable rooms with lovely decor, friendly and helpful staff, and beautiful grounds. The free horse ride was a lot of fun, and there were tons of activities. Wi-Fi was weak in the rooms but worked well in common areas. It’s also only a short drive from Montevideo.

The restaurant’s service was kind and attentive, but the food doesn’t justify the very high prices. The fries were frozen despite costing as much as home-grown potatoes, and the meat definitely wasn’t premium. That’s the only reason I’m not giving the place all five stars.
