NH Montevideo Columbia

I’m a member of the NH loyalty program and often stay at other NH hotels, but this one doesn’t deserve to be an NH Hotel. I don’t understand the high ratings. Its location is close to the old city tourist area and the Rambla, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here and wouldn’t return. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, and the beautiful roof terrace in the listing wasn’t usable. The AC, TV remote, and refrigerator didn’t work. There was mold in the shower and the windows were broken and dirty. The rooms and hotel were poorly maintained, with a very small room, no luggage rack, and old, dilapidated furniture. There was only one electrical outlet in the room, while the others had been covered up instead of repaired. No concierge or tourist information, either. The bar and restaurant were overpriced and the food was poor. We booked the “romantic escape,” but only got the wine and amenity after asking. When we asked for a wine opener, they told us to take it down to the bar ourselves. Breakfast was poor, and the coffee was cold.

The rooms were modern, clean, and very comfortable, and the views over the city were amazing. I had a fantastic stay at the NH Hotel Montevideo. The location was perfect, the staff were super friendly, and breakfast had plenty of excellent fresh options. It’s one of the best places to stay in Montevideo for work or relaxation. Highly recommended!

The breakfast buffet was a joke. There weren’t enough plates or glasses, so we had to wait. The scrambled eggs came in a small container meant for several dozen guests, and it was empty when we arrived. We waited 10-15 minutes for more, then found there were no clean plates. Check-in also took a long time because there was only one agent. The restaurant menu was extremely limited, and the AC in our room didn’t work. The old carpet looked dirty and there was a wet dog smell. This place is badly in need of updating. My wife and I travel internationally often, and we wouldn’t stay here again. This was our first NH property, and we’ll avoid NH hotels in the future.

The reception staff were very nice. The restaurant staff were unfriendly at every meal, and I can’t think of anyone there who was nice or even smiled.
