Hotel Plaza Paysandu

The mini-fridge was noisy too, and the ceiling fan didn't work. Honestly, if it did work, I'd worry it might fall off, hahaha. The building's age is ruining the hotel, and it's pathetic. In my room, the whole bedroom shook when I turned on the AC. After it shut off, I could still feel the vibration from the unit in the next room, since the outdoor units are right up against the walls. They charge an exorbitant amount for a room that isn't even close to being worth it. If you stay here, bring a sleeping pill or be a heavy sleeper like me.

The staff were impeccable, and I had a great mattress and pillows in my room. The hotel is quiet and centrally located, with parking and a very good buffet breakfast, probably homemade. The stairs were quite dark and could perhaps be marked better. I would return.

The service was decent, but the staff didn't know how to sort out the problem. I booked two rooms and had let them know I'd arrive at 6 am. When my companion and I got there, we found they'd only set aside one room. It had no windows and looked like a closet. The water came out in a thin trickle. While I was left without a room, I begged to at least use one to shower. They gave me a room for just two hours. Luckily it had a window, but when I opened it, there were large pieces of bread and crumbs all over, so I had to shut it. Showering was a struggle with so little water, and the curtain frame was practically falling apart. I was afraid the whole thing would come crashing down. I still don't have a room. My suitcase is in the closet they call a room, where my companion is staying. The photos they post of the rooms aren't very realistic, so be careful. I'll definitely look for a hotel where at least the basics work.

The management and kitchen staff were the only redeeming parts. The hotel is in very poor shape, and the bathrooms were mediocre at best. The air conditioning was missing batteries, the TV had no volume control, and the bedspread was stained. Breakfast was bad too, just instant orange juice.
