Gran Colonial Riviera

The rooms were okay, apart from the long black hairs all over our bed, clearly left by an earlier guest. Internet only worked in the middle of the night if you hung around the reception, where there were lots of flies. Breakfast started at 8:30, so hungry guests lined up an hour early, then everyone rushed in at once. The food ran out immediately, and the dining room turned into chaos. They only take cash, and even then they had no change. Not impressed with this hotel.

The power cuts lasted until halfway through our second day, so we couldn’t use the air conditioning or refrigerator or charge our devices, and didn’t get to enjoy the hotel as much as we’d hoped. The staff were friendly the whole time, but couldn’t offer a fix or compensation. Breakfast was heavy on bread, and more fruit and fresh orange juice would’ve been good. Still, we liked the comfortable facilities and room, which had what we needed, and the place felt pleasant from the moment we arrived. With things working normally, I think a stay here could be enjoyable.

We were there from Friday the 13th to Saturday the 14th. The room was small but functional, and they replaced the broken minibar right away. The pool has limited hours and can get very crowded. There are no options for children, so it isn’t the place to choose if you want peace and quiet. The place itself is lovely and has real potential, but they need to improve. Breakfast was deplorable: the orange juice, if that’s what it was, tasted awful, the coffee was like dirty water, and the pastries, alfajores, and other items were very poor. The toast was forgettable, there was no jam or sweets, and hardly any fruit to choose from. Broken plates and sugar in a shared bowl next to a bottle of sweetener didn’t help. Breakfast ran for just 45 minutes to an hour starting at 8 am, with everyone crammed into the tiny dining room. They really need to improve this service.
