Hotel Montoya

La Barra is a great place to stay, and this hotel is perfectly located there. Everything was exceptionally clean and orderly. Rodrigo, Mariano, and Sandra were especially helpful, taking care of whatever I needed right away and always with a great attitude. The hairdryer was a pleasant surprise, big and powerful, not one of those tiny ones that make you want to cry. Beach chairs and umbrellas are provided too. I loved the hotel and will be back.

My son left his Stanley thermos, with a name tag, in the room when we checked out. We went back for it, but the hotel wouldn't take responsibility and the thermos disappeared. Who kept it? I would never stay here again. What a shame. The other problems started with the rooms. The first had an engine noise that woke me at 4 a.m. The next smelled of sewage. Reception said the wind sometimes brought the smell in and promised to move me again, but never did. They also said no one had complained about these issues, while other staff told me the smell did come through and that a refrigerator downstairs made the noise. The room wasn't cleaned at all during our four days, even after I complained. Breakfast was poor too: the quality was appalling and they didn't replenish the food. If I posted my chats with reception, I'm sure no one would book here again.

We were left stranded in the middle of January when the hotel refused to honor our reservation, even though we had booked through its OFFICIAL WEBSITE. They just tried to explain how their system worked instead of helping or taking responsibility. A staff member at reception said they would compensate us for the extra expenses, which made us spend more money. Then the manager, Juliana, said the employee was wrong, and they refused to take responsibility for ANYTHING. This place NO LONGER BELONGS TO THE NOBILE CHAIN, but still displays the logo, which feels like a scam meant to fool unsuspecting people. When you call, they treat you badly; by email, they blame the system. A complete disaster. Thieves! Avoid this place if you want to spare yourself a bad experience and save money.

We had a confirmed reservation through BBVA and Despegar from the day before, but the hotel had been rented out entirely to a company and left us outside.
