The Trip Hostel

The hostel had a relaxed, alternative feel while we were there, with lots of Spanish-speaking travelers hanging out in the common areas. It was good for solo travelers wanting to socialize, and beaches and supermarkets were a short walk away. Most facilities worked fine, the dorm curtains were great, air conditioning was available, the price was okay, and there was potable water in the kitchen. It’s a small place, and the dorms get really packed when the hostel is full. In my opinion, there isn't enough room for the number of people squeezed in, especially with luggage all over the floor. If you don't mind that kind of mess, it might be perfect for you. The rules say quiet hours are 02:00-10:00, which might be a plus for some people if those hours suit them, haha. During our stay it got quiet before 02:00. The staff were friendly and helpful, except one person who seemed in a bad mood, so it was better not to interact with him.

The owner is friendly, and the drinks at the bar are well priced. Beyond that, it was disappointing. The rooms don't lock and there's nowhere secure to leave valuables. The Wi-Fi wasn't working either. There are just three toilets, and since each is in a shower room, you may have to wait while someone showers.

We didn't feel we could stay because of the hygiene. The rooms smelled musty and were dirty, and the sheets had stains. I can't recommend this hostel.

The owner or manager was attentive, and the morning receptionist's friend was helpful. One employee, though, was rude and unpleasant. He dumped the food I'd cooked into the sink because he thought it was dirty. When I asked for ice for my water, he said there wasn't any without checking the fridge. He also told me rudely that beer wasn't allowed, even though the owner said it was fine to pour it into a glass. He then washed the bucket used to mop the toilets in the kitchen sink. There were bedbugs in the rooms, and I ended up with hundreds of sores on my body. I still had two days left, but left early, and nobody asked why. Arrogant staff, loud talking and music all night, and no hygiene at all.
