The rooftop was the highlight for me. I loved ending each day with a sunset glass of wine up there; they actually had a bar serving wine and beer in the evenings, and a glass of wine was about $4. The view was as good as the restaurants I tried in Khiva. I paid more than I did at my other hotel, but the terrace made that worthwhile. That other place was in an old madrassa and had more historical character, so this one’s rooftop helped balance things out. The location worked well as a base. Khiva is tiny, so anywhere inside the old city seems convenient, and this hotel is very close to the main gate and sights. The front desk staff were kind, helpful, and spoke good English. They even arranged a perfect airport pickup over the phone. My room was comfortable, with a mini fridge and kettle, and there was always very hot water, which I’d been having trouble finding in Bukhara. Breakfast was okay by local standards, with a little more choice than my other hotel. The hard-boiled eggs were raw about half the time, and the coffee wasn’t great, though it helps to keep your location in mind when setting coffee expectations. I’d recommend it. Thanks for a great stay!

We were there for two pleasant days. The bed was comfortable, the location was just right, and breakfast was a real feast. It was snowy and very cold, so we couldn't eat out on the terrace, but I still got some beautiful sunrise photos up there. The shower pressure was a little weak; we didn't mind, given the warm hospitality.

The staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful, and Jamshid deserves a special mention. He’s a real asset to the hotel. Our room was spotless and everything worked properly. It’s right in the middle of the fort, close to all the attractions. I highly recommend staying here!

The best thing about the stay was the location inside the city walls, since that’s where we wanted to spend our time. The terrace was nice too, though it hadn’t been set up yet because the season wasn’t underway. You could still go up for the view, and I imagine it’ll be pleasant once the seating is out in warmer weather. Our second-floor room meant climbing two flights of stairs. I believe there are first-floor rooms for guests who can’t manage the stairs. The room itself was basic, with a hard bed, which seems common in this country. The bathroom felt dated and got humid and stayed damp easily. It had shower gel, shampoo, and liquid hand soap. WiFi didn’t work at all during our stay, which was a big letdown. Service was okay, and the front desk spoke great English. Massage and sauna are available for an extra fee. Breakfast is included, but it was basic and not very vegetarian-friendly. It was a simple stay, with little that would make me rate it above three stars.

Getting up to the rooftop means taking a winding staircase, which could be hard for anyone with limited mobility. Still, it’s a lovely spot for a drink. The hotel is perfectly placed for visiting Khiva’s sights, and the staff were extremely helpful and spoke good English. Breakfast was poor, and the plumbing didn’t work well. Guests are asked to put toilet paper in the bin beside the toilet because the pipes clog easily.
