The host was warm and friendly, chatting with guests and regularly checking how my mom and I were doing. The place felt very welcoming. Hotel S & D Hostel was clean and seemed quite new. The receptionist showed us a room first, then helped us switch happily when we changed our minds. As I was leaving, he even carried my luggage down the stairs, which I really appreciated. I'd definitely stay here again if I return to Tashkent.

I booked a room, but when I arrived I was told the Booking.com price didn't apply and that I had to pay 2-3 times more. No warning or discussion, just a new price presented as settled. It seemed like they'd spotted a chance to make extra money during the holiday season, given the rooms to someone else for more, and treated my reservation as optional. Their “generous” alternative was a bed in their hostel at the same inflated price. It wasn't worth the money: unsanitary conditions, constant noise from people using the bathroom right behind the wall, and people making noise in the basement kitchen. An unforgettable stay if that's your kind of thrill, with a faint smell of fraud.
