The Top Hostel

The shared bathrooms were always dirty, as was the kitchen, so I didn’t cook there. There was never toilet paper, and someone smoked in the toilet even though it was a non-smoking room, leaving a terrible smell. They also didn’t provide towels or blankets, and October nights were already cold. On top of that, people were checked in at 3AM, disturbing everyone’s sleep. I don’t recommend this hostel and won’t return. Getting there was confusing from the start. Their first message on Booking.com chat had the wrong address, so I went to the wrong place before messaging them and getting the correct one. The owner didn’t speak English, and another person translated our conversation, though that person wasn’t fluent either. They offered me their personal room if I wanted privacy, even though it wasn’t listed, which felt very weird, especially as a woman in a foreign country. After a whole hour of translation, I was exhausted and accepted the bed I’d booked. They then put me in the top bunk, despite my specific request for a bottom one. They’d said in Booking.com chat that a bottom bed was available and set aside for me. When I complained, they said they didn’t know what I meant. I was too tired to keep dealing with the confusion and took the top bed.

The staff were very kind and helpful, guiding me based on what I needed and my budget. I had a great experience, with nice service, a good location, and an affordable stay.

We booked a double room with an en-suite, but got three child-sized single beds instead. The en-suite had a shower but no toilet, so everyone had to use the shared one. It was often occupied and filthy. The place is advertised as a haven for bikers, yet there’s no secured motorcycle parking. I wouldn’t go back.

The bed was comfortable, and there was a charging point right by it. The washroom was clean and had hot water. I stayed one night at this top hostel, very close to puskin metro station.
