Point Pleasant Resort

We had a really good four-night stay. The rooms were clean, the views were phenomenal, and we felt very safe. Coki Beach was a seven-minute walk, and having the restaurant nearby was convenient. Sapphire and Lindquist were both less than ten minutes away. All things considered, I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting the island.

The location and views are the main positives: there are several activities a short drive away, and the views come fairly cheaply on this island. Beyond that, we were disappointed. The rooms have a decent layout but feel badly worn, like they needed a major overhaul 20 or 30 years ago. There's no sound insulation, so you hear everything from neighboring rooms, and housekeeping isn't offered. The mattress was awful. The air conditioning is on a timer and may shut off in the middle of the night. Our TV wouldn't turn off, so we unplugged it, and the overhead light came on by itself twice during the night. We wondered if a neighbor's remote had the same code, but don't know. Some staff seemed uninterested in helping: when asked what to do nearby, one said they lived there and didn't do tourist things. I guess the price reflects some of these issues, but not enough to make up for them. It felt like a Holiday Inn from the mid-80s.

Taxis were easy enough to find, but I'd skip renting a car because the hill up to the resort is very steep. If stairs are a problem, ask for a lower building, like B or E. The setting is convenient for Red Hook and Sapphire Beach, and Point Pleasant has lovely pools and a restaurant, Sun & Sea Bar and Grille. The views are beautiful and everyone working there was so nice. We had an amazing stay and will definitely return someday.

We used The Market STT to stock the kitchen and cooked there, though the restaurant is very good for meals before you get supplies. Point Pleasant made a great base for our week in St Thomas. The beaches close to the resort weren't as appealing as Linquist beach, a short drive away. We stayed in D28 at the top of the tiered hillside, where paths run up and down between the buildings. The lobby was below us, with the restaurant and the path to Margaritaville farther down. From bed, the living room, and our huge corner balcony, we had incredible views of St. Thomas every morning. The resort also has three pools, kind service, a good restaurant, and clean surroundings.
