The Durian Lodge at Mekong

Loan was a great host and the chef too, her food was absolutely marvelous. The place was beautiful and reasonably priced, and my room was quiet, spotlessly clean, and had a soft, comfortable king bed. The Wi-Fi wasn't strong, but you're not coming here just to be on social networks. I'll definitely come back.

Loan was friendly, and the beds were comfortable, but the place's magic didn't work for me. I was really disappointed when I saw the bungalow room. There was no storage at all, and hot water took 10 mn to arrive. Food choices were limited and prices felt relatively high. Getting there and leaving were expensive, and I felt trapped in such a remote place, expected to buy locally, which I didn't like.

If you're looking to get away from HCMC for a day or two, this place could work. The hotel was ok, and you can book through lovers hostel because it's the same place. But food was really pricey, with a 200 000 minimum price. There was no Wi-Fi in the rooms as promised, and it was really difficult to find decent river tours. The day tour they offer, with a lot of biking, costs around 1,5 mln. A one-way boat trip to Can Tho was the same price.

The peaceful surroundings and breeze from Cai Be river helped my partner and me relax, and made for a wonderful stay at this remarkable Durian lodge in Cai Be. We ended up staying two nights last weekend after initially planning just one, and the experience was positively memorable. The host Martin and co-host Loan are a really nice couple, and their service was almost impeccable. I strongly recommend this Arcadia The Durian lodge at Mekong as a place to stay, eat, relax, and enjoy. Martin can guide you by bicycle across Cai Be for nearly 20km. Heaps of thanks, Martin & Loan.
