The Secret Con Dao

We loved The Secret in condau and can’t recommend it enough, especially because of the staff. Everyone was so friendly. It was the best hotel we stayed at in Vietnam. Anyone saying the staff aren’t friendly must be crazy or something. I’m Dutch, so I don’t sugar-coat it.

We really enjoyed our stay, even though a few things could’ve been better. Our room wasn’t completely clean when we arrived, and housekeeping didn’t do a great job during our stay. The power also went out frequently. There weren’t enough sunbeds, so guests put towels on them hours before using them. Pool cleanliness could improve too, and staff didn’t enforce the rules about smoking or pool behavior. Still, it’s a beautiful resort with modern rooms and truly excellent service. The staff were courteous, and the food was high quality. The Vietnamese lunch menu was especially good, and we’d recommend it.

Breakfast was legendary, one of the best spreads we’ve had in Vietnam. Everyone at the hotel was kind and accommodating, and we’d stay again. Booking was a little tricky for our family of four with older children, though we probably could have fit into a larger room. Hue at the spa was experienced and kind, and I had a wonderful stone massage. At breakfast, Giang was very helpful and spoke English wonderfully.

The best part of our stay was Sang’s wonderful service. She looked after our table on our first night at The Secret, when we had our first, but not last, pizza. She was professional and so friendly, and greeted us with the warmest smile each morning. Thank you, Sang! The location is hard to beat: a minute’s walk to a lovely sandy beach, with markets, cafes, and restaurants nearby. Cocktails at the rooftop bar were lovely, and happy hour had two-for-one deals every afternoon and evening. We also really enjoyed the hotel dining, especially the charcoal 4 cheese pizza with its Napoli-style thin crust and the local honey they serve alongside it. Breakfast had a fabulous mix of Western and Asian favorites.
