Happy Hotel Apartment

We’re staying in a fully furnished apartment, and it’s been a good fit for a short or long stay. The building is called The Happy Hotel, so you might not expect apartments, but they do have them. The design is modern and it seems barely new. It works well for expats and digital nomads like us, and long-term rentals come with a contract. The building feels secure and has an elevator, basement motorbike parking, plus a rooftop restaurant and garden. Reception staff are friendly and receive packages for us when we’re out. They’ve even paid on our behalf, which was a nice extra. There’s a manager, maintenance staff, receptionists, security, and a cleaning lady, so help is around when needed. The local market is close, with flowers, meat, vegetables, fruit, and even a pharmacy next door. Weekly cleaning is provided, and the apartment has a washing machine and fast Wi-Fi. It’s soundproof, too. There’s a cement-like factory next door, but we couldn’t hear it with the door and window closed. Inside the unit are two bathrooms, more than we need, but handy when we have a guest. A couple of things could be better. Wi-Fi is spotty in the bedroom, so you may need a range extender if you work in there. It’s fine around the sofa and kitchen. There’s no Wi-Fi password, so I use a VPN for security. There’s also no generator during a power outage, though they let residents know. It only happened once. For working nearby, we liked In the Pines, The Dome, La Viet, One More Cafe, F cafe, and Greenbox. Nearby gyms include ZicZac and Vbox. I’d recommend the place to other foreigners looking for an apartment.

The rooms are spacious, the furniture is new, and there’s a large parking lot that makes it easy to move the car around. You can watch the sunrise or sunset from the balcony. It’s an ideal place to stay in Da Lat, with a receptionist who’s enthusiastic and always smiling.

The customer service was absolutely the best. Everyone was courteous and helpful in every way. Highly recommended.

The staff were enthusiastic and professional, and the facilities were decent, but the stay was still awful. There was no air conditioning or fan. With the door shut the room felt stuffy, and opening it made a lot of noise. The bathroom was cramped, had no partitions or exhaust fan, and got smelly with the door closed. The water was dangerously hot if you weren't careful. The cooking setup was very basic, just a few bowls and pots for warming food or making noodles. There were no knives, chopping boards, or scissors. I wouldn't choose this for a healing retreat or even a short work stay: I couldn't get a good night's sleep or the quiet needed to recover. Think carefully before paying a deposit, because it won't be refunded.
