Anriva Hoi An

The rooms are spacious and very clean, with a lovely river view, and the hotel is tucked away from the busiest part of Hoi An. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the prices were very reasonable. It’s a fantastic family-run hotel, and that 4.9 Google rating makes sense.

The reception staff were the best part of the stay. They offered breakfast, including local Mi Quang and a few other things I can’t remember. Laundry is available for 30k VND per kg, with a 90k VND minimum, about the same as services down the road. We booked a cheaper Standard Double, so a pricier room might be a different experience. I saw some of the larger rooms, and they looked newer and much better maintained. I wish I’d booked one of those. Our room felt old and lived-in, with lots of tiny baby moth worms or eggs on the walls and paint that needed refreshing. The walls also did almost nothing to block sound. We could easily hear the couple next door arguing nonstop. It was apparently a connecting room, but the two doors were locked. The bathroom was cramped, with a sloping ceiling over the toilet and no separate wet and dry areas. The shower had weak pressure, and its barely working drain backed up within a minute, so standing in the water felt unpleasant. The toilet had nice marble, but it was all black, and with the backed-up water it looked a bit dirty. The air conditioning was excellent and very cold, and the Wi-Fi worked fine. It’s a 15-25 minute walk, or about five minutes by car or motorbike, to the Old Town and night market. The location isn’t terrible, but there aren’t convenience stores or many food stalls nearby. Grab and xanh SM maps seemed to show the address incorrectly. Drivers kept stopping about three minutes away, so give them the specific address rather than searching “Anriva Hotel.” It wasn’t a terrible budget place, and I’ve stayed somewhere worse. Still, next time I’d spend a bit more for a more comfortable place in a more convenient location. That’s a shame, since the staff were really friendly and nice.

Mon and his wife welcomed us warmly with their adorable baby and were incredibly accommodating throughout our four nights at Anriva Homestay in Hoi An. A friend had recommended the place, and it really did exceed our expectations. They helped with everything, from everyday requests to changing flights and calling the VietJet call center in Vietnamese. Mon also upgraded us to a beautiful suite with a stunning river view. Free bicycle rentals made it easy to explore Hoi An. The owners’ warmth made us feel right at home. Highly recommended!

The family were attentive, and the freshly cooked breakfast I had was delicious, even though the options were understandably limited. The only downside was the thin soundproofing. I could hear even quiet conversations from the room next door. It’s a lovely homestay, good value, and in a quiet area. I’d stay again.
