Blue Ocean Beachside Hotel Danang

I can't understand the glowing reviews. The Wi-Fi was too poor for a WhatsApp conversation, and there was nobody at reception at night. For all five nights, loud, nearly naked kids ran down the stairs and took the elevator back up, sometimes until 12:30 a.m. When I mentioned it to the manager, he smiled and said, “Ah... that's the family room!” My room had almost no furniture beyond the bed and bedside tables: no desk, chair, suitcase stand, or drawers. The window looked onto a filthy wall of a six-floor building only three feet away, so it was never useful to open the window or curtains. There was a switch for the water heater, but no label, and nobody had turned it on since I checked in. I waited for the water to heat before I could shower. The bathroom door wouldn't stay shut and kept hitting my back while I used the sink. The sink bowl was so oversized there was hardly any space for toiletries. I'd rather stay at "Sea near me Hotel". It was great in every way and half the price, despite being a 4☆ hotel rather than a 3☆. Definitely never again.

I stayed here for two months and really liked it. It's right in the center of Da Nang, but still quiet, and the rooms are clean. Most important for me, there was no mold smell, which matters a lot here. The manager was great too, always available and willing to help sort things out.

The staff were friendly, and the room was tidy and a decent size. The bathroom is small, and sound carries badly. I'm not sure if that's just how it is in Vietnam, since other places I've stayed were noisy too, but even on the ninth floor with the window shut and the AC on, I could hear the scooter seller's “bahn bow” announcement every five minutes.

I ended up staying for two weeks, and as a digital nomad I found it good value, with a bright room, AC, and hot water. The location is ideal, right in the main area and just around the corner from the beach. My first room was spacious, on the top floor, and had a balcony. I'd booked only two nights the evening before flying into Da Nang because reviews on different booking sites didn't line up, and I wasn't sure what to trust. The room was so good for the price that I wanted to keep it for the rest of my trip, but it was fully booked. Thu Ba at reception was very kind and spoke English well. She moved me to another room, then helped me return to the first one after a couple of nights. She was a big help. I'd checked out some nearby places too. Their rooms looked run down and nothing like their photos. I'd highly recommend staying here.
