The Garden Hotel and Apartment

The place was clean, with spacious, clean bathrooms. I liked that the bed area felt private and had its own outlet and light. Staff spoke good English, the atmosphere was nice, and free water was available. Live music at the rooftop bar made for a nice local experience. The general location is good, though the nightclub next door gets really loud on weekends. The mattress was thin, but not bad.

The location was handy, near the dragon bridge and with lots of bus stops around for getting across the city. Staff were nice, but the service didn't meet what I expected from a hotel. We booked two nights, then changed our plans and wanted to cancel the second one. They wouldn't allow it or return the money, so we had to pay for a night we weren't staying. In our view, that's unacceptable. The place itself was okay. The bathroom was a bit old and dirty, though the shower had working hot water. We had a private room, but the walls were so thin it didn't feel private at all.

I swapped my usual hotel break for a local hostel and stayed in the 20 bed mixed dorm on two separate visits. It's clean, modern, and in a good spot, about a 20 minute walk from the da Nang city train station. Being near the river, coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping was a plus. On my first visit the dorm was full, and I was worried about sleeping, but everyone respected quiet hours. The bed was comfortable, and the blanket kept me cozy even with the a/c blasting. The second time the room was less crowded and I slept just as well. A live band played on the third floor, though it didn't bother me much. If you're sensitive to noise, reception sells ear plugs. The bathrooms were clean, showers were easy to access, and the water pressure was strong and hot. Towels and toiletries are provided. Staff were courteous and efficient, and I appreciated having a locker and key to keep my things safe. I'd recommend it to fellow travelers.

The dorm didn't offer much privacy, and I could hear other guests. In the four bed room, the bathroom was basically a terrace turned into a shower and toilet area, with only a curtain and no windows to close it off. There was a club beside the hostel playing loud music late into the night. The rooms were very noisy. I wouldn't recommend staying here and definitely won't return.
