Frontier Hostel & Tours

The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the staff were friendly when we stayed here before and after our four-day Frontier Run motorbike tour around Dien Bien Province. We can't recommend the tour enough. It takes you into rural Vietnam to see how people live, with homestays, incredible views, and no other tourists. Our local guide, Son, was informative, responsible, and friendly. Do this tour!

The location is excellent, with everything within walking distance, and the price is reasonable. The room was lovely, even had a balcony, and the staff gave us all the information we needed about the city and nearby area. You can book activities there too.

The hostel was generally clean, and free-to-use bicycles were available. Still, the mattress didn't fit the bed properly and sagged in the middle like a hammock. September was warm, but they only provided a thick duvet, and the old AC wasn't very efficient. One person in my dorm left yogurt pots and water bottles all over the floor, while another made a loud phone call at 6AM and ignored a guest who asked him to stop. I can't really blame the hostel for its guests' lack of consideration. DBP is a very quiet city with little to do, and most people seem to be passing through between Laos and Sapa.

The rooms are basic, clean, and have comfortable beds. Prices are very fair, and the receptionist was super friendly and gave me all the information I needed. They can also arrange bus tickets at very reasonable rates.
