Le Pont Hotel

We had a great time in Cat Ba, and I'd definitely return. The best part was the young woman at reception, whose name I forgot to ask. She was lovely and incredibly helpful. They offer tours at a great price, along with handy services like laundry and motorbike rental. The room was quite big and good by Vietnamese standards. It was cleaned every day. Breakfast wasn't a huge spread, but it was decent and better than most we'd had before. Great place for the price!

The young woman at reception was brilliant. She handled laundry, visits, travel, scooter hire and everything in between easily, always with a smile. That's why I gave three stars instead of one. The owners could do more research into what visitors need or like. The room was basic and had no kettle, which matters to me, though it may not bother others. Breakfast was inconsistent too. When I asked for tea with a little milk, it came made entirely with milk, and on my last day the bread was stale.

Friendly staff, scooter rental, and really good value for the price. The rooms are large, well arranged and quite clean, with comfortable beds that aren't too hard. It's set away from the main strip, so it's quiet at night but still an easy walk to restaurants and other places. Breakfast has a limited selection.

The hotel/hostel is a cute little place, around a five minute walk from the main action in Cat Ba town. It's a bit run down, and some of the facilities are old. The shower was pretty hopeless, though it did the job. Breakfast is very simple, basically bread with scrambled eggs or fruit, but it was tasty. The staff were friendly and tried hard to help despite understanding little English. Tours booked through the hotel were great and reasonably cheap. You pay for what you get here, which isn't much, so don't expect too much.
