Pham Ha Hotel

The hotel is very close to the airport, and the staff were helpful. When no cabs were available, they managed to book a taxi for me at the last minute. They also provided free bottled water. My main complaints were the small bathroom and communication that could use improvement, but overall I had a nice stay.

It was okay.

Good.

The room gets 8 points from me, but the staff get negative points. I paid 600k VND, which isn't cheap, and the night attendant spoke to me in a dismissive, contemptuous way when I politely asked if we could call him to open the door after returning late from a meal. He could simply have said, "Please understand, we close at 1 AM." Instead, he said, "We always close at 1 AM, it's up to you," with no concern at all. This is the last time I'll rent here. I'm paying, and there are plenty of other places where the service is professional and I can feel comfortable. Don't tell me you get what you pay for. Check out rooms around Cau Dat, they're nice and new, and close to busy restaurants and cafes. This place is near the airport, but not the city center. If you want to spend time around Hai Phong and stay out late, it's a poor choice. It's far away, the road back is deserted, and the staff close at 1 AM and go to sleep.
