Somerset Central TD Hai Phong City

I always like staying at Somerset, and the apartment was really pretty and spacious. The cleaning service let it down, though. They didn’t clean or even vacuum the restroom floor.

The staff were all friendly and very supportive, especially Ms. Rosy, Nick, and Mr. Cong, who helped me a lot. My room was comfortable and spacious, and the location made getting around easy. I highly recommend this hotel and plan to book it again on my next trips.

The two-bedroom apartment gave us lots of room to spread out for a couple of nights while we took a one-day Halong Bay tour. Having a washer and dryer was handy for catching up on laundry, and there’s a large supermarket right next door. We paid extra for breakfast since it wasn’t included, but we were disappointed: some of the food was cold and didn’t suit our taste. We went down after 9 a.m., and I think breakfast may be aimed more at business guests, perhaps especially Japanese and Korean tastes. The next day we ate what we’d bought at the supermarket instead, which I’d recommend. I’ll still give it five stars to be fair.

The city view was great, and the beds and pillows were really comfortable. The fast WiFi worked well, and the shampoo and body wash were organic. The staff went out of their way to help, even holding an umbrella and walking us to a nearby market or store so we could buy things, instead of just giving directions. You don’t see that in the US. We stayed in a three-bedroom apartment and liked being together in one place. Our unit had a master bedroom with its own bathroom and bathtub, plus two smaller bedrooms and a shared bathroom with a standing shower. There were a washer and dryer, pots, pans, and cooking utensils in the room. The place felt equivalent in quality to a five-star hotel in the USA, though it’s an extended-stay hotel with both short visits and long-term guests, some staying six months or more. My only suggestion is to stock more detergent than the amount for a single load. Outside the hotel door, there was a strong sewage smell, which seems to be due to the city’s infrastructure rather than the hotel.
