Hanoi Calido Hotel

The room was roomy enough for four people, and the bed was genuinely comfortable. Wi-Fi was quick and steady, and the staff were consistently polite, attentive, and great with service. I appreciated the complimentary upgrade, which I think was to a family room. A few things could be better. The room felt dated, maybe because of the chandelier and the traditional cable TV instead of the Smart TV I’m used to. The bidet pressure was weak, even on the second floor. Breakfast was just average, neither disappointing nor memorable. I usually took the stairs, but the stairwell stayed poorly lit and dark, which was inconvenient.

Train Street is right across from the hotel, and Dong Xuan Market and the Hang Kiem weekly market are around a 10-minute walk away. It’s a handy spot for sightseeing, and Muslim travelers have several halal restaurants nearby. I’d rate it mainly for the location. The room cleanliness needs work, and the breakfast isn’t worth what they charge. The facilities and service weren’t the draw for me.

The room was clean and quite modern, although I spotted a few stains in the bathroom. Reception were very accommodating, and breakfast was good. It has a homey feel rather than a hotel atmosphere. Train Street is the closest attraction, while Hoan Kiem Lake takes at least a 10-15 minute walk. There are lots of shops and food stalls around, plus nearby ATMs. We had trouble with the AC, which may explain the fan in the room, and the Wi-Fi kept cutting in and out. Still, it was good for the price and a relaxing place to return to after a full day walking.

We chose a windowless room to save money, but they upgraded us for free when we arrived. The staff were kind and very polite. It’s in a peaceful spot, yet close to popular attractions, so I’d recommend it if you want both.
