Hanoi Holiday Silver Hotel

I left at 2am after finding bed bugs in the room. First I saw two, then found more under the pillow and in the sheets, in different sizes. I took photos, and had to push back about being charged for the whole night. I told the nice staff their boss could come in to discuss it with me, otherwise I was leaving. It took a while to find somewhere else, but I finally got a room after 3am. Before that, this had been my first hotel in Hanoi. The staff were nice, breakfast was offered, and the room looked pleasant, with a double bed and a smaller bed. I’d liked it enough to book another night. I’d been traveling nearly six months and had only seen two bed bugs before, the last time many months earlier. I’d also just spent almost two weeks at a really good place in BKK with no problems. That night I was up on my phone until 2am, started feeling itchy, and turned on the lights. I’d kept my bags away from the big bed, on a chair or the small bed, fortunately. I can’t say for sure the hotel was at fault unless they knew about the problem. But after looking it up, I guessed they might have known, since the bugs were different sizes and may have been nesting there for a while, with eggs laid some time ago. I haven’t seen a single bed bug in more than two weeks since leaving. I’m giving it three stars. My own experience felt below one star, though I know a hotel may not be able to do much about bed bugs. Or can it?
