Jacosmo Hotel & Spa

The room was old and dated, nothing like a Junior Suite, and the photos on the website were misleading. Our balcony was just an old sealed glass window with mold, and we couldn't use it in the heat. We arrived in 35-degree weather, but the air conditioning couldn't keep up on the top floor. The bathroom needs updating too. They put us on the 11th floor even though the elevator only goes to the 10th, so with big luggage, ask reception for help with the two flights of stairs. At check-in, the receptionist said we had to pay for the whole stay upfront, preferably in cash. I've traveled in many countries for years and this was the first time I'd been asked to do that. They do take cards, but add an 8% charge. The lobby was much smaller than the picture on booking.com. Breakfast was average and the space was small. It starts at 0630, so we showed up then each day to get seats, but the staff weren't ready. The coffee and food were still cold. I ordered an egg omelet and waited 15 minutes; when I asked, it hadn't been cooked, and the woman I'd ordered from said she thought we'd already left. Not enjoyable at all. If you're expecting a four-star hotel, this isn't it. I'd call it two stars, mostly suitable for backpackers. I think guests gave it a four-star rating because of the staff.

The little daily delivery of chocolate in the afternoon was a lovely surprise to come back to, and our room was spotless, comfortable, and clearly looked after. The hotel is well located for getting around and seeing nearby places, and felt like good value. The staff were warm, professional, and helpful from the minute we arrived. They even organized a birthday surprise with decorations and a cake, making the occasion feel special without us needing to do anything. They also arranged a day tour at a better price than we found online, saving us time and money. Service really lifted the whole stay. We'd happily come back and recommend it.

It feels very new, which is a nice bonus, and the bunk was comfortable with a shelf for your things, a reading light, and a fan. They also provide a personal locker and towel. The hostel is clean and cozy, tucked down an alley behind the hotel it's attached to. Staff are friendly, speak good English, and the service is top notch. I'll book here again next time I'm in Hanoi.

We only stayed one night at Ja Cosmo, but it was a great visit. The bed was huge and comfortable, and the room was great. When we mentioned a strange sound, Lisa at reception was lovely and apologetic, and even gave us Hanoi key rings to say sorry. Everyone was kind and accommodating. I'd love to stay again.
