Labevie Hotel

We paid extra for a balcony and loved sitting there with Hanoi’s bustle outside. The rooms were lovely, and the location is brilliant. David at Reception was great: when we had trouble with the TV, he dealt with it straight away. He’s happy to share ideas and recommendations when asked, and doesn’t try to get money out of you. Han in the kitchen is a sweetheart. Breakfast is pretty basic, but they’ll cook it how you like if you ask. Some guests were very rude while we were there. Treat the staff as you’d want to be treated and things are fine. If you choose a basic room, don’t complain about it. We’d stay again without hesitation.

The front room had a little balcony, and it was pleasant enough. They cleaned it daily and left fresh towels. It was well located and did what we needed, giving us an easy base to explore Hanoi.

From the start to the end, my stay at Labevie Hotel Vietnam was honestly awful. The rooms looked nothing like the online pictures, and were old and poorly maintained. The sheets didn’t feel fresh, the bathroom smelled bad, and cleanliness was well below an acceptable level. Staff were unprofessional, unhelpful, and not even basically courteous. When I brought up problems, they ignored me or made excuses instead of sorting them out. They made no effort to help guests feel welcome or comfortable. For what I paid, that was completely unacceptable. I’ve stayed in many hotels around Vietnam, and this was easily the worst. There are better nearby places that care about their guests.

The location is perfect, and the hosts were welcoming and nice. The room, though, was small and had no windows, which was a bit sad. The TV and fridge didn’t work at all, so the yogurt I bought went bad. Breakfast ran from 8:30 to 9:30 am and included noodles, rice, a poached egg, sausage, bread, three fruits, tea, coffee, and juice. By 9 am, some of those items were usually gone. In the morning you could hear noise from the hotel hall downstairs, but nights were calm.
