We loved the room, and it felt well worth what we paid. It was spacious, cozy, and beautifully decorated, with secure WiFi. The location worked really well too, close to clothing shops, the Old Quarter, cafes, and local eateries. I especially liked One Summer Three Autumns and 22 Decembre. The staff were lovely, including the janitors, who stayed patient and helpful despite the language barrier. The security guard was especially kind. He proactively helped with our luggage, and after checkout we could leave our bags safely and call him to bring them back. He even offered us Vietnamese treats, including dried lychees, bananas, and crispy rice snacks. They also provide toothbrushes, shower caps, cotton pads, QTips, and rubber bands. We were glad we chose this hotel for our Hanoi visit, and would happily come back.

The security guard was helpful and did his best to communicate despite the language barrier. But the way the rest of the situation was handled left me feeling awful, and I wouldn’t recommend this place. I’d booked this room because it had a bathtub and I badly needed a good night’s sleep. I planned to sleep early after a bath, but while I was filling the tub, the water went cold and never heated up again. I tried turning the water heater switch off and on several times between 1am and 5am. I was already unwell, and ended up taking a cold shower. I didn’t want to wake the sleeping security guard, and didn’t think anyone could fix it at that hour, so I waited until daytime to ask for a late checkout waiver. I’d originally planned to leave at noon, even though I’d asked about a late checkout the night before, because I thought I’d be able to sleep early. The staff called the owner, who first refused and agreed only after a second call. The owner said I’d already paid a lower rate because I booked at the last minute, so they couldn’t waive more. I hadn’t asked for a discounted rate, and to me that was a separate issue. They seemed not to believe the heater had failed. The staff member said she needed to check it at checkout, then checked again when I went out and later told me it worked. I’d already explained that working during the day didn’t prove it hadn’t broken the night before. It felt like they thought I was lying to get out of a fee, and that didn’t feel good, especially after I’d spent four hours waiting for hot water. I did get the fee waived, but I’d rather have paid than be doubted about my character right to the end. I also offered to transfer the late checkout fee and said the hotel could contact me at the email linked to my Google account. I’m disappointed because this accommodation had the best reviews among the places I booked for the trip. I doubt many travelers shower at 3am, so maybe no one else will have this problem. I guess I may really have become the gaslighter. The room itself wasn’t bad, but I won’t recommend a place that seemed more concerned with proving whether I was telling the truth than making a guest comfortable.

At around $50 for one night, this is a great deal. The host responds quickly, the place is spacious, the air conditioners work very well, and daily cleaning is good. A few things could be better. The room stays a bit dark even with all the lights on, and the hair dryer isn’t very strong. Water drained really slowly from the bathtub while I showered, so I had to stand in the water I’d used, which didn’t feel great. The washing machines can only be used from 7am to 9pm and were always occupied, so I had to use laundry services elsewhere. It might help if they could be used overnight. If you’ll arrive after 10pm, let the host know so they can ask the security guard to let you in.

Maison Nha at 17 Ton That Thiep felt safe and quiet, and it was very handy being so centrally located. The apartment was clean, cozy, and well equipped. The host was friendly and quick to respond. I really enjoyed my short stay, and thought it was good value. Highly recommend.

The flat is big, clean, and well equipped, and the staff were great and quick to respond. It’s a lovely choice if you want to be near Hanoi Old Quarter but just far enough away to avoid the noise. I’d recommend it.
