Phoenix Palace Hotel Hanoi

Peter and Anna were helpful with their local knowledge, arranging excursions to Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh and giving advice for a day trip to Incense village. Their suggestion to use Grab was perfect. The rooms were lovely and clean, and the service was friendly and helpful. It’s a well-run family business that cares about guests having a good experience, in a very convenient location.

The best thing here was the location, right in the center. We planned three nights for our Vietnam trip, but the rooms were below average, with broken furniture, and the TV remote didn’t work. The staff member who showed us the room didn’t even know where it was. Please don’t trust the web photos. The staff member at check-in was rude and seemed clueless. The lady who co-owns the hotel was kind and helpful, but sadly we only met her on our last day.

The couple who run this small family hotel were friendly and helpful. We arrived before noon and they let us check in early. The lady walked us to the room and mentioned that minibar drinks cost extra, which was thoughtful. The wooden furniture gave the room a slightly nostalgic, traditional feel. It’s clean and comfortable, though not fancy, and very well placed for exploring Hanoi on foot, with the Cathedral, Train Street, and a Michelin-rated restaurant a short walk away. Breakfast had limited, simple options, but for the price it was more than acceptable, and most of it suited my taste. Good value if you want a straightforward place with kind hosts.

Anna was very helpful with tour bookings and provided good service. The reception staff were friendly, and the location makes it easy to see the Old Quarter Hanoi or use the hotel as a base for sightseeing in Ha Long Bay and the Ninh Binh area. I’d stay here again next trip.
