Riverside Hanoi Hotel

The junior suite was impressively spacious, with a nice bed and an in-suite jacuzzi tub, but the room smelled horribly of mold or mildew. I also didn’t like the location, since it wasn’t good for walking to local restaurants and places like that. I wouldn’t book here again.

It’s a decent hotel with spacious rooms, a good washroom, working AC, a good gym, and a convenient location. Most of the staff were good too. I had one bad experience at breakfast today. A cup had been left carelessly on the table and fell while I was standing nearby to get water. I tried to stop it but couldn’t. A woman on staff spoke to me in a threatening way and asked for my room number so I could be made to pay for the broken cup. There was a CCTV camera in the room, so I felt she could have checked what happened first, or asked a senior colleague to do so, instead of speaking rudely and intimidatingly. Thankfully, a very kind senior staff member, probably her senior, understood and assured me it wasn’t my fault. I’m grateful to him. I’m sharing this because many tourists from my great country (India🇮🇳) may have communication difficulties and could be pressured into paying a penalty for something they didn’t cause. Staff should be more humble, polite, and friendly to tourists.

A suitable hotel, but there’s nothing around it, and there’s some smell from the river.

I’m pretty easy to please with hotels, and the front desk guy was genuinely super friendly. The neighborhood felt safe, and the location was decent for getting to the airport. The building seemed well made, with nothing rundown or falling apart, which I often see in Southeast Asia. My flight wasn’t until really late the next day, and they let me stay past checkout for about 25% of the room cost. I thought that was a nice deal. The bed, though, was a nightmare. Sleeping sitting up in a Humvee in Iraq was more comfortable than that mattress.
