The place is small, but it’s clean and quiet, and Todd was always smiling and ready to help. In all my travels, attentive, outgoing staff have been what made hostels stand out for me. If I return to Hanoi, I’d stay at a Chi Novel again for Todd’s excellent service.

A handy spot for exploring Hanoi, with shops, a supermarket, Hoan Kiem Lake, beer street, pharmacies, restaurants, and coffee shops close by. It’s right in a shopping area. The rooms are on the small side, but they’re clean, with a soft mattress and private space for each bed. Staff are thoughtful and kind, and the service feels professional for the price. A great home base.

The private room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and check-in and checkout were easy. Breakfast didn’t stand out, I ordered toast and eggs. The big problem was construction nearby. It got VERY NOISY as early as 5am, so I couldn’t sleep enough and felt groggy all day. If a good night’s sleep matters, I wouldn’t stay here, especially over the next few months, I guess.

Six nights here, and I found the staff really, really friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable, and both the bedroom and bathroom were very clean. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a hostel in Hanoi.

Everything’s walkable from this central spot, with nice cafes and restaurants just around the corner. The hostel is small, quiet, and clean, the staff are friendly, and towels are provided in the female dorm. Just don’t book it expecting a party hostel.
