Aluna Ben Thanh Hotel

The location and breakfast were great, but most of the rest was mediocre or poor. The bed and mattress were old and noisy, there were small ants all over the room, and the bathtub leaked and spilled water everywhere. They only left two complimentary 250 ml water bottles, which surprised me. There was just one lift for 12 floors. Grab delivery people were left downstairs at reception, and reception didn't seem interested in telling guests. The attitude was that repeat business didn't matter. Even with empty rooms, they charged 30% to 50% for early check-in, depending on how badly the guest needed it. After flying all night, I asked to check in at 10am. The receptionist was completely uncooperative and, after several requests, charged me 50% of the room price I'd paid Agoda. Agoda has no way of verifying hotels, which leaves guests helpless. Try to avoid this hotel, and don't rely on the reviews alone.

I had a pleasant two-night stay at Aluna Ben Thanh Hotel. It was easy to get to Ben Thanh Market on foot, and there were lots of halal food options nearby. My room had the basics I needed and was comfortable, though not very spacious. Stella and Suzy at reception were friendly and helpful, and made the stay better. The rest of the staff were polite and attentive too. A good option for a short city visit.

Stella at reception was a huge help when I left my sunglasses in a Grab car. She contacted the driver and arranged to have them delivered back to me. Everyone was welcoming, from the doorman to the room cleaning staff, and the receptionist spoke English well. The room was very tidy, and the hotel serves halal breakfast. It’s on Malaysian Street, handy for shopping and very close to Ben Thanh Market, with Grab easy to get. I’d definitely stay at Aluna Hotel again. Five super cool stars!

The location is great, and the street gets especially lively for shopping at night. We had a pleasant stay and would come back. Stella, Henry, and Hero were all friendly and helpful. They could communicate with us in English, which made things easier, and Hero was especially polite.
