Arc En Ciel (Thien Hong Hotel)

I was the tour leader for a group of 67 Sri Lankans. For a three-star hotel, it has all the facilities, but staff in charge of most departments were very rude. On day one, there was no proper welcome for our group and no welcome drink. On day three, we booked their reception hall for our group's gala dinner, and the food was great. As an in-house group, we asked them not to charge corkage for our liquor, but they wouldn't be flexible. They also charged a high price for a bottle. We had agreed that food and other services, including DJ music, would stop at 10:30 pm. We only asked to stay with our group for two more hours without any service, but they refused, saying there was a function the next day. Unfortunately, we stayed two more nights and didn't see any functions before we left. They usually shut the breakfast buffet promptly at 9:00, even while people were still eating. We also had a few checkout problems: the elevator wasn't working and no bellboy service was provided. Apart from that, some junior staff gave good service, including room service and the breakfast floor staff.

The first stay was in room 501 for two nights, and the room itself was great. My Netflix account worked there, too. I came back later in the trip for another three nights, but room 701 had no hot water despite several calls for service. Netflix also only partly worked because some shows were blocked by the hotel's proxy. I watched the same program in 501, then a service worker told me it wasn't available in Vietnam. The water issue happened on both stays. After I complained the first time, the front desk promised two free bottles from the minibar, but I was charged for them at checkout. On my return, they apologized and promised two complimentary bottles again. At checkout three days later, the register still showed no record of that promise and staff asked me to prove it. This was my first time staying here in HCM, and I booked twice on this trip. I'm leaving this review as a heads-up and hope the hotel improves its follow-through and facilities.

My friend lost 15million VND in the room, and the hotel never helped us check the CCTV. I also faced charges for services I hadn't requested, including questionable miscellaneous fees such as minibar items I didn't use. As a tourist, I found the stay horrible and traumatic. The manager called the police for a random check without a clear reason and forced my room door open, instead of making sure guests were secure. I love Vietnam, but I can't recommend this hotel. I hope other guests aren't treated the same way. It wasn't worth the money.

I didn't enjoy my stay here. They charged me for minibar items I hadn't taken, and the manager had a bad attitude. Keep your passport with you if you stay here. In our experience, staff forced the room open without our consent and didn't follow hotel protocols.
