CouCou Homestead II

The Longan Room on the top floor, the sixth, gave me a beautiful open view across the surrounding buildings through its large 180-degree window. Ventilation was excellent, the room was spotless and cozy, and the elevator made getting up there easy. The AC worked perfectly and kept the room cool, and room service was reliable and well organized. The manager and staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my comfortable stay at CouCou Homestead II – Mini Hotel. There’s also a nice coffee shop right downstairs, handy in the morning. The location is very good, and I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone visiting District 1.

The weak Wi-Fi is the one real drawback, so this isn’t a good choice if you need to work online. Otherwise, I highly recommend it as a central place to stay. It’s within walking distance of everything, yet surprisingly quiet. My balcony room was spotless, there’s a cafe downstairs and an elevator, and the staff were very helpful over WhatsApp whenever I needed something.

The bed and pillows were really comfortable, and the central spot was quiet. The alley has plenty of shops and cafes too. We enjoyed our stay and would still recommend it for a comfortable stay at an affordable price. There was a smell from the pipes and the bathtub leaked. That seemed pretty normal for the places we stayed in Vietnam, though.

The bathroom wall was translucent, which might feel sexy and romantic for a couple, but it was really uncomfortable for our family of four. If someone needed to use the toilet or change, the rest of us had to leave the room or hide under a blanket. The bathtub was nice, and I had no other bathroom issues. We stayed in the family room in the inner lanes of District 1, about a seven-minute walk from Bui Vien walking street. It had two mattresses for four people rather than proper bed frames, plus a small window facing the building opposite, so there wasn’t really a city view. The coffee sachet tasted good. I’d requested a check-in four hours early and was willing to pay extra, but they refused and said I had to book the whole day. Since it was my first day in Vietnam, I didn’t want to take the risk, so I paid for it.
