Ben Than market is just steps away, which is about the only good thing I found here. This is an old, run-down hotel with narrow, claustrophobic spaces. The rooms are worn and badly overdue for renovation, and the whole place feels depressing. It also doubles as what seems to be a dubious massage parlor, giving it a strong bordello atmosphere. I wouldn’t recommend it for families. Online prices jump from the advertised rate once a huge amount of fees and taxes are added, charges I didn’t see at other hotels in the city. A room listed at £11 a night, for example, came to £18 with the T&S charges. Even after booking and paying in advance, management may sell your room to someone else if they can get a few more dong. There’s also no CCTV system to protect guests, which is unusual, though it fits the place. There are much better options around the market for the same money.

After going back and forth across Vietnam, I’ve stayed here on my returns to Saigon/Ho Chi Minh city, about three times this month. The friendly, helpful staff and the price make it a good fit for what I need: somewhere to sleep while I visit around. The room has what you need for a night and a fridge for your things. For one person, the location close to everything works really well. I was judging it before from a married man’s point of view, which wasn’t really fair. It’s across from a night club, so you either can handle the noise or you can’t. The power cuts off when you leave, which also switches off the fridge and AC. The room warms up and ice melts in the fridge, making a mess. Keeping the fridge and AC running would be better. You can use a comb with the teeth knocked out at the end to keep the power on while you’re gone. See pic. The WiFi seems to disconnect, and the floor 2 WAP may need a reset, or perhaps the whole network does. It’s sluggish enough that I can’t watch an Instagram clip. As an IT Admin from the US, I’d reboot everything and double the speed if possible. I’ve had three massages, including Thai deep tissue, and they were good. One woman did a 90-minute deep tissue massage that helped my shoulder, and she was clearly tired but did a good job and earned it. I don’t like the other clients making noise, but it’s a small place. The massage ladies at the front entrance are always nice and look pretty, and they’ll keep trying to sell you another massage. At about $24, it’s good. People in places like this often work harder than they’re paid. Learn the currency. For drinks above 4% ABV, there’s the stout house on the corner to the left as you leave the hotel, and a 7-11 nearby for soda, water, and booze. For more upscale shopping, go to the mall on the other side, since this area is more old style. The seller across the street with electronics and shades has knock-off Oakley, Ray-Ban, and Gucci sunglasses without polarized lenses, so if you buy them, offer half. They’re not legit. The fridge and AC turning off when you leave is normal, but even so, the hotel’s really worth the price for what I need. Cheers.

The reception team gave me a warm welcome, and the room was spotless, with a super comfortable bed and air conditioning that worked perfectly. Such a cozy, clean boutique hotel. I’ll definitely come back next time!

The lobby, decorated with traditional lanterns, feels warm and inviting. The reception staff are friendly, and the space is clean and comfortable. It made a lovely first impression at this cozy boutique hotel.

Right in the center of District 1, it’s great value for money. The hotel feels modern and stylish but still homely, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. A fantastic experience!
