Hôtel des Arts Saigon - MGallery Collection

The pool has a lovely city view, but the area is small, with too few sunbeds and no shade. It gets hot quickly, so I burned fast as someone fair-skinned. Still, I had a fantastic two-night stay at this beautiful, modern five-star hotel. The room was really nice, and the staff were friendly and efficient. I didn't get an upgrade, but they offered free laundry for six pieces. Fair enough, though I would have preferred a complimentary breakfast. The cocktail bar is cosy and serves great drinks with high-quality snacks, and the rooftop bar is nice too. I'd gladly return if I visit Saigon again.

The staff were extremely friendly and courteous, and concierge Loc made sure a delivery package reached us before we left. We enjoyed our three-night stay. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, and the lounge on the 22nd floor was both handy and comfortable. Breakfast had a great selection, and many local attractions are within walking distance.

I’ve stayed at Hotel des Arts Saigon, MGallery Collection twice, once each year for the past two years, and it’s my regular choice in Ho Chi Minh City. The District 3 location is hard to beat: you can walk to district 1 and plenty of other places, while the hotel still feels peaceful. The art deco look, rooftop pool, and overall style are beautiful, and it feels true to the MGallery boutique luxury promise. The hospitality is what really stands out. Front desk, housekeeping, and restaurant staff were all warm, attentive, and went out of their way to help. They remembered my preferences from last time and handled requests with a smile. The service feels easily five-star, and I felt like royalty. Some maintenance problems kept me from giving five stars. On both visits, at least one elevator was out of service, which was inconvenient in a building with more than 20 floors. The mattresses are cheap box-spring types that creak loudly with every movement, disrupting my sleep. A mattress topper covered them. I also noticed patchy, half-done repainting, with mismatched colors or unfinished touch-ups in parts of the hallways and rooms, making them feel a bit unkempt. For a hotel of this caliber, I expected quieter, better bedding and more consistent upkeep. Be aware there's a 5% fee up charge and 8% VAT tax, and they accept all major credit card carriers. Prices feel severely overvalued and overpriced, sometimes well over 10x the market price, so the margins must be astronomical. Imported goods may not be as good as what you'd get out of the country, so keep an open mind. It can get loud when events are held, and there are a rooftop bar and loud street venues nearby, though they do provide ear plugs. For business stays, not all RJ45 ports work, so it's hit or miss. When they do work, the internet is functionally adequate but not fast. They throttle the speeds here, and I measured an average of 13 mbps. Despite these issues, I still highly recommend Hotel des Arts for its charm, location, and excellent staff. I'll likely return, and hope management addresses the upkeep soon. Otherwise, it was a great stay.

You can walk everywhere, so it's a good base if you want something a bit special in Saigon instead of a basic city hotel.
