The couple who own the place were really kind and helpful. The room, though, wasn’t as clean as it looked in the photos, and cigarette smell plus stale air gave me a headache. This area didn’t feel like a good fit for a solo traveler wanting a night’s rest, with lots of love hotels offering quick one or two hour stays.

We booked a double room two weeks ahead and were due to check in today. This morning, reception called to say the guest currently in the room wanted to stay longer, so they cancelled our reservation. They offered no alternative and simply told us to find another hotel. Really poor customer service.

I’m on my second day here and have no complaints so far. It’s a quiet area, the owner is friendly, and there are lots of little coffee shops nearby. The bed is comfortable and the air conditioning works well. I needed the rest, and tomorrow I’ll explore more of the area.

Double-check the address before heading to the Hung Phat hotel you booked. I went to the wrong one and they checked me in there. Some reviews I’ve seen seem to describe that other hotel, so it looks like travelers mix them up fairly often. I moved once I realized the mistake. The place I meant to stay at was great and inexpensive, close to local cafes and restaurants. After weeks of nonstop travel, I wanted somewhere to rest, and the rooms worked fine for that. The staff were very friendly too.
