The location is right in the city center, within walking distance of the Opera House, Nguyen Hue Walking Street, and Japan Town. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I appreciated their honesty and professionalism. I’d booked the cheapest room, which had no windows, but they upgraded me for free to a room on the 10th floor with a fantastic city view, including Landmark 81. After checkout, I’d accidentally left behind a bracelet and my Sony WF-5 charging dock, and housekeeping made sure both were returned. The room itself left a lot to be desired because the soundproofing was almost nonexistent. I could hear people talking and doors opening and closing in the hallway, as well as plumbing from neighboring rooms, including toilets flushing. If you’re a light sleeper, getting a restful night could be hard. The location and service were great, but all that noise significantly affected my comfort.
I was lucky to find this place for a last-minute stay and ended up really glad I did. The location was handy for spending the day out exploring, and the room had what I needed to be comfortable. I passed on breakfast so I could try local food. Simon, Mike, and the receptionist were warm and helpful, which made the stay memorable. I’d originally hoped to book another nearby boutique hotel, but this one worked out well.
The room was the biggest problem. It smelled strongly of mold, and the AC blew straight at our faces. One of us felt ill while inside, improved after going out, then felt sick again on returning. Opening the window let in some air, but also bugs; with it shut, the smell was awful. We ended up seeing little of Saigon because we felt unwell. We skipped the pool after reading other Google Maps reviews. The room also had poor sound insulation, so we heard people on the stairs and conversations next door, and its window barely let in fresh air. For what we paid, it fell short of expectations. The location near the Japanese district and the good breakfast were positives.
The clerk kept asking me to leave a review, so here it is: look elsewhere. The rooms are below par and the bathroom is only mediocre. It also felt like they were trying to save money on everything. For the price, you can find somewhere better.
The bellhop was really nice, but after that my impression of the place went downhill. I was charged whenever I wanted to reach reception, and there was no ironing service. The laundry shop nearby charged far above the usual rate, too. My makeup artist came at 4 a.m. and stayed for two hours, but they charged me for an overnight stay. Reception said that was hotel policy and claimed they would be fired without pay before Lunar New Year if they didn’t charge me. That’s a terrible way to run a hotel. I wouldn’t stay here again, especially for work.
